Away from touristy Amsterdam, where two of the most beautiful canals of the city meet, you will find Café Thijssen. Well known and appreciated by the locals, this is a no-nonsense bar with a classical look and feel. The wide beer selection, good coffee and food, great view and easy going atmosphere make this ‘brown café’ a perfect base from which to explore the real Amsterdam.

Local and expat mainstay with laidback indoor and outdoor seating and an apple pie that rivals the more touristed Winkel 43 nearby. Comfortably Dutch. GooglePlace - November 2017

Tipical old Dutch café. Good and fresh food and coffee and very nice, old style atmosphere. Very good apple pie. GooglePlace - November 2017

This must be my favorite place to brunch in the Jordaan. The falafel was damn tasty! GooglePlace - October 2017

This is a good place to have lunch, dinner and late night drinks. They have a terrace in the middle of the street and on the sidewalk. It's a rare occasion of a downtown Amsterdam bar, yet it's not too touristy. Go for the Spanish plate, it's a great meal to share. Also, on Mondays they do a pubquiz. All questions are in English too. Usually the place is packed on this night. GooglePlace - August 2017
