Various reviews rave about this place, which is why we went, but for the life of me I can’t understand why. It was a huge disappointment, and possibly one of the most mediocre meals I have ever had. The service was excellent, and the accordion-playing chef seemed an amiable chap, but perhaps it would have been more profitable for him to have spent time in the kitchen working with fresh ingredients. Both the shrimp starter and the mussels (fried or swimming in a gelatinous sea of sickly peppers, tomatoes and chunks of onion) were obviously cooked from frozen, and almost entirely unpalatable. The sides were equally unappetising: stodgy ‘hot’ boiled potato, slaw, boiled cauliflower and roast potatoes (the least offensive of the lot). One of our party had wanted cod, but none of the fish dishes was available. The bill was certainly expensive for the food we were served, and they didn’t accept VISA or MasterCard, which meant an annoying walk to an ATM. There are plenty of places in Amsterdam that do good traditional Dutch food in rustic surroundings, and this isn’t one of them.

I love this place! It’s been forever sense we have had service like this, The chef came out to talk to us about the food and she was super polite and educated about the meals and I can say that was the best service and food ever!

Overall bad experience due to the waitress, the food was tasty but maybe too light VS our expectations. The waitress suggested 2 traditional dishes and when we ordered she told us that they were not available anymore... We didn't had any napkins, we had to pay for water, we were not able to pay by card... Really disappointed because this restaurant seemed to be a really nice one.

Cuisine authentique Dutch, nourriture abondante, personnel très accueillant, le cuistot joue même de l'accordéon en fin de service
