Very nice cocktails, but ever so slightly strange service. I ordered a mint julep and was strongly advised to have a Manhattan or an old fashioned. I presumed it was so I could taste a local spirit, but it turned out to be made with bulliet bourbon! Anyhow, it was a nice drink in a lovely bar, and reasonably priced as well. The steak in this restaurant is really good! I will recommend friends to come again. GooglePlace - January 2017

A light evening meal to relax the body and soul after negating the plethora of push bikes and scooters around the streets of Amsterdam!!! Thank goodness they don't appear to wear Lycra outfits as well!!!! I had an Angus Burger with fries which was quite reasonable as was the chicken club sandwich that my wife enjoyed. Surprised however to see "Tipping" added to the bill - we thought we had seen the last when we left USA - and this was the first time in Europe. A legacy system that needs to be tackled. Sorel's is in a great location, with average food, and poor service. Simply, the staff is not quick or attentive. When engaged actively by a customer, they will respond, but I walked in, sat down, and had to wait 20 minutes for a waitress to ask me whether I wanted something. I asked for a menu and eventually got one and ordered. I have watched other tables do the same. I came back again today since I have been staying at the Marriott, and the service was the same. They would easily be twice as profitable if they would train their staff to quickly engage customers, make sure people have menus, and look for empty glasses and ask about refills. It's not hard.
