STARING at JACOB x Ku West is a old west neighbourhood cafe. We are local, international, multicultural. Our concept is simple: healthy brunch all day in a relax & warm atmosphere. We are a cosy hang out for friends & families who want to eat, drink, chill or work. In the evenings Hiro and his crew of Ku Kitchen & Bar take the floor and serve you typical Japanese izakaya food. Think robata grill and fresh fish. Cocktails are served throughout the day !

We came here for breakfast and this place definitely has the WOW factor! Super friendly staff, really relaxing atmosphere and fantastic food! We wish could have this every day. This place is a must if you visit Amsterdam GooglePlace - December 2017

The food here is so delicious. And with drinks such as mimosas and Bloody Mary's, what's not to love? It is a real hipster place and it gets really busy. Make sure to make a book a table in advance! We did so but unfortunately the people at our table stayed too long so we were seated elsewhere and then were relocated. Then our food somehow didn't come so we had to order again. But this wasn't at all a problem because of the really helpful staff that were apologetic and really nice. So all in all a good experience. GooglePlace - December 2017

Mixed Feelings - The food so far has been great, so much so that I wanted to go back and get takeaway twice, however... The first time I tried to get takeaway, not only was it not announced on their website that they had a private party scheduled but neither did anyone pick up the phone to inform us of that when we tried to call. I don't live far so walked to the place and given it was private, the clientele as well as the staff made me feel quite unwelcome and stupid, despite the fact I had no knowledge that the place was hosting a party, despite my best efforts. The second time, it said on Google that closing time was 10PM on Sunday, so I tried to call again and the phone as per usual was engaged. I went to the place again minutes later to order takeaway. I told them the google opening hours and phone situation and for the former they blamed Google and for the latter they said they had a problem with their phone. I thought you register all your information with Google regarding credentials and opening hours??? As I have become accustomed to in the Netherlands, customer service is not the highest, but there are good reasons for this, they are very busy given the popularity of the place, but still a greeting when you walk in the door would be good to know that once they are done they will come and assist. This wouldn't be such an issue if their food wasn't so good! :D I just wish that they maybe updated their website/google to inform people accurately when you can/can't expect food. I think if they could employ another one or two members of staff it would probably also make a HUGE difference if you are looking to dine in. I'm guessing if they read this, they probably know who I am, if so, I'm sorry, but I worked in the restaurant industry for some years and there are some points here, that are rudimental and require minor effort but would a big difference!!! Visited for the second time after I heard they increased portion sizes and I'm really glad I did. The service was great, the drinks and food were delicious and we were stuffed at the end of our brunch! The staff actually remembered my review and generously compensated for my last visit. I am beyond impressed by this level of service and attention! Will now take all my friends here for weekend brunches. Thank you, Staring At Jacob! GooglePlace - November 2017

Edit: The food is still awesome as ever. The service is still super friendly. The only problem is that the service is very slow and forgetful. We were there on a nice day where both inside and outside were packed. I don't think either the coffee machine or the waitresses could handle a packed outside and inside at the same time. Food got served quickly! 4 stars until next time! 2016 review 5 stars: Staff is super friendly, the owner seems as passionate as can be and not unimportant, the food is incredibly good. Also you can't find a Bloody Mary as good as here that easily. Long story short: An one of a kind place every Amsterdammer or visitor should've visited at least once. GooglePlace - October 2017
