Follow THE DUCHESS on Instagram >> https://www.instagram.com/theduchess_official/ THE DUCHESS, inspired by the splendour and eminence of the Belle Époque, took residence in Amsterdam as of the summer of 2015. True to her imperial roots, THE DUCHESS resides in one of the best-kept historic gems, the former KAS Bank and W Hotel Amsterdam, where she will introduce her guest to the elegance of traditional London hospitality balanced with Viennese grandeur. Her royal nature is captured in the refined flavours from Southern France and Italy, known as Nouveau-Niçoise Cuisine. The custom-made Molteni kitchen is an impressive centrepiece fit for a royal, where the light and pure dishes arise alongside decadently delicious desserts. THE DUCHESS menu is one of intricate simplicity with eclectic classics as luscious Fruits de Mer platters, Rotisserie and grill specialties as well as homemade ice-cream coupes prepared at the table. The heydays of a historic cocktail era relive when seated at the majestic marble bar. The punches, highly creative adaptations of French and Savoy Apéritif and refreshments inspired by the roaring twenties and thirties embody eminence of long lost times. The exclusive La Mirage Tea and champagnes are to be enjoyed in the excessive Tea Room accompanied by one, or various, of the delicate sweets, macaroons, éclairs, truffles and cotton candies. Afternoon tea reminds one of an Alice in Wonderland tea party with an abundance of teacups, teapots and cake tiers. THE DUCHESS balances the elegance and sophistication of her distant royal past with the comfort and intrigue of our time. The past and present do more than co-exist; they enrich one another. Starting January the 29th The Duchess opens the doors of her tea Room.

Nice place ruined by terrible service! Last week my friend and I went to the Duchess for a cup of tea and some cake. We were greeted by a tall blond waiter. I asked if there was a menu and he replied there wasn't with an attitude. Then, only when I questioned if there was no tea menu, he said 'oh yes' and brought a menu to us. Not an explanation about the cakes available and so forth. The menu he handed to me was showing the option about the high tea, we weren't even sure if you could pay only for a cup of tea and some cake, given he went away very quickly and didn't give us the time to ask him any question. At the end I went to the stand where all the pastries are displayed and I was served by another (much more kind) waiter. We ordered some cake and some tea. Again the tall blond waiter arrived with the tea, he arrived with no sugar, so we asked for me. We then realised he didn't bring us any spoons, so my friend called him and asked for some spoons. And then...we never saw him again! I usually don't feel like writing reviews but I felt this experience really deserved it. At €20 for 2 cup of teas and 2 pastries we both expected a much better service. I will go there again as I don't think this waiter will last long there. Lose the attitude! GooglePlace - November 2017

Elegant and fancy restaurant inside the W hotel. We came here for brunch. Prices were on the higher side as expected, service was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. We had some of the truffle mushroom gnocchi and a dish with around 20 kinds of mushrooms. Portions weren't very large but still satisfying. The decor and interiors are quite lovely. What a wonderful evening we had at the Duchess! Me and my boyfriend went to Duchess bar two weeks ago on a Thursday night and couldn't make up my mind on what to order. Our bartender from Italy (I think his name was Lukas) after some good recommendations, kindly offered us to prepare something special for us. I had a gin based drink while my boyfriend was served a whisky based cocktail. I couldn't expect anything better, from the whole execution of the cocktails till the tasting experience everything was just outstanding that we ended up ordering another round. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a very classy, not ordinary night out in Amsterdam. 5 stars! GooglePlace - October 2017

We came 2 couples and it was an amazing experience. The diner was wonderful and to top it all we mooved to the desert part of the restaurant. Sitting at a window canal view we were served with great sweets and tea. GooglePlace - October 2017

Unbelievably good food. Seriously some of the best I have ever had. Our waiter, Davis, was extremely polite and helpful. Recommended a cocktail for my fiancée and he was spot on, she loved it. The duck was our favorite. The blood and stone cocktail was my choice and did not disappoint. I wish I could remember the two male bartenders names as they were a joy to watch create masterpieces in liquid form. We visited the 2nd of October about 6pm. If management sees this review, give them praise for us! GooglePlace - October 2017
