The Pantry / Amsterdam

Leidsekruisstraat 21HS Amsterdam 1017 RE
Opening Hours
Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat 11:00 - 22:30

Furnished with wooden tables and chairs, the interior is what the Dutch would describe as "gezellig". A cosy atmosphere created by dim lighting and Old Dutch paintings. Reflecting the culture of decorating the room with old things, it seems more like a Dutch living room than diner. The Panty is specialised in traditional Dutch dishes. These include 'Herring' as well as 'Stamppotten;' a mashed potato dish mixed with vegetables and sausages or meatballs. We also offer an extensive wine list from different countries, the red wine displayed on a wine rack. Your waiter brings you your choice of wine, giving you a quick taster before pouring it into your glass. Located in the busy streets of Leidseplein, it is advised to book a table as it can get busy. During the summer it's possible to sit in the small terrace with your choice of company. The Pantry is overall an ideal restaurant for you to stop for a traditional Dutch dinner the Dutch also come to enjoy, satisfying your appetite before hitting the town for a night of fun

If you've got friends visiting Amsterdam and they insist on trying Dutch food and you can't talk them out of it, then go ahead and take them here. They do a good job of presenting traditional dishes (potatoes and more potatoes) and have a pretty decent wine list. Centrally located so a good place to pop in for lunch or dinner. If you want to feel ignored for a little bit just go there, you will feel like an unwanted guest. Waiting for 15 minutes for a menu is "a little" bit to much or I'm a just impatient. GooglePlace - November 2017

Very intimate restaurant: no noise, few tables, the interiors decoration helps to warm up the environment. Staff is very nice, service is fast and food is very good. You can find typical dutch food (to have an idea it recalled me German typical food). Nice selection of international wines too. If you want to have a nice and relaxing dinner is a place to be. Awesome place. The pea soup was one of the tastiest dishes I had while in Europe. Very nice staff. Very cozy atmosphere. GooglePlace - November 2017

Awesome typical plates. The soups are awesome and the meatballs even better! A bit expensive but worth it! Foursquare - October 2017
