Perhaps we hit this place on an off day or time... but the bartender did not help me find a beer I liked (I described my taste, was offered the opposite, and that was the only help I got - it ended with me trying to guess at labels I'm not familiar with). They offered English menus which was nice but it was outdated. The food was mediocre compared to everything else I've been so lucky to have in Norway (reindeer stew was cooked to the chewiness of jerky in places). Been to three other places on the same block that we loved to pieces, so perhaps the bar was set too high to enjoy this local favorite on an off day (a Tuesday). It was recommended by a bartender at a great spot down the street, so our experience may not be reflective of a better day. GooglePlace - July 2017

Great and (relatively) affordable food. I got the whale steak. If you haven't had whale before, I'd describe it as being like a normal steak, but very tender on the inside, with only a slightly fishy taste. Also got the cheese platter, which (as a cheese lover), I thoroughly enjoyed. The moldy one was my favorite! GooglePlace - June 2017

Had an outstanding experience eating lunch here. The chef came out of the kitchen to give us a rundown of the cheese plate, which featured four different cheeses from Norway. All of them were unique. The chef, with refreshing honesty, said the blue cheese featured was "not the best we've ever had" but it was still very good! The entrees made excellent use of local cuisine. Prices would be more than reasonable for this quality of food anywhere, let alone Norway. Put it at the top of the list if you plan to visit Bergen. GooglePlace - May 2017
