Djimalaya / Berlin

Invalidenstr. 159 Berlin 10115
Opening Hours
Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat 12:00 - 23:00

This place was opened by Ofer, the ex-owner of Zula, the first Israeli hummus place in Berlin. Strangely, the hummus here is less good and has less flavor than the one in Zula, which is my favorite in Berlin. Another minus point is the atmosphere of the place. It did not decide what it is. Doesn't feel like a grill place, because it's not and doesn't feel like a hummus place because it is not. Nor a café - or anything. I do like their lunch deals. For dinner it lacks character. If I could, I would leave a 6 stars review. This place is great: the food is delicious (I have tried the Mittagteller (beef+salad+hummus) with fries and the homemade lemonade), the place has a very nice interior with soft music, and the service was great, fast and kind. As for the price, my lunch was just under 10 € (+ tip). GooglePlace - January 2018

Food is really good with good prices, the 2 stars are for the service. I have been there last week for lunch, and I remembered why a couple of years ago I stopped going there: it's incredibly slow, it can take more than 1 hour to have lunch there. On top of being slow, this time they also forgot or lost or gave to someone else the food for 3 of the people at our table. When we finally managed to get the attention of a waitress (and that took a while, everyone else was almost done eating) she checked with the kitchen, came back with a very confused look and asked them what they had ordered. At least they gave us those 3 meals for free. GooglePlace - December 2017

Decent food, but the night I was there the service was unbelievably bad. Had to set off fireworks just to get the waitress's attention. As far as I could tell, she simply didn't care. Owner's daughter? Not sure. On the positive side, the hummus was OK. GooglePlace - November 2017
