Straight up it is not a cheap place and when the main came out the pork belly was burnt which is very amateur. In fairness they provided one dessert non gratis upon us raising it but we also did not receive the side we ordered and it took a far too much time awkwardly standing in the doorway before anyone saw us to our seats. The waiter was also very pushy about us providing a tip despite the lack of service we had received. Aside from the pork belly the food was very good, in particular the terrine and the steak main were excellent. Also a nice setting and could possibly forgive them for having an off night but we wouldn't go back just for that though based on the experience had. Not worth the money at the end of the day. I took the fixed menu dinner: catfish tartare, boar as main and pear for dessert. All three courses were very tasty and made a great impression. I also liked the unpretentiousness of the place. Would have given 5 stars if not for somewhat undercooked root vegetables in the main course, and more-than-acceptable dry bread. Still, this is fantastic food. On the margin: napkins impractical; toilet needs refurbishing; waiters understaffed, although surprisingly efficient. Three courses, excluding drinks: 41 euro. (10.1.18) GooglePlace - January 2018

The Local is the best place to see and eat in Berlin. The food is fresh each day, the atmosphere is friendly with the employees who keep it this way. I've never tasted such flavor and all the bread is baked daily/same with all their food. GooglePlace - October 2017

Had just an exceptional meal at Lokal. You walk into this cool little bistro and you could be in the W Village of NY or the W Bank of Paris. Great atmosphere and the name belays the overall feel. Definitely feels like a local spot. I have been to Germany a number of times and always seemed to get roped into a "traditional German" meal, so sausages, potatoes etc. Lokal finally gave me a taste of "modern German." I had a roast bore dish that mixed flavors from E Europe and Germany, complete with sauerkraut and borsch sauce. It was excellent. Not heavy but filling with some fun peppers to round out the dish. My dinner mate had the Hake dish which he devoured. We only had mains but saw some other awesome dishes getting served around us. Highly recommend this place! And prices are super reasonable.
