Description

The restaurant „Zur letzten Instanz” is the eldest restaurant in Berlin and ranks among the sights of the capital. Its origin is in 1621, when a former equestrian servant of the elector opened a gin mill at this place. The restaurant got its present name when mainly guests from the nearby court came to drink their experiences ”in the last instance”. Historic additions survived despite the reconstruction after the war, even Napoleon himself was served in the restaurant at the tiled stove. Our history, the two restaurants, private room and beer garden invite our guests to stay. Berlin cuisine a la carte with exclusive regional products and fresh beer on tap ensure culinary moments in original ambience.

Not very happy with the quality of food. The service was very good but I felt the kitchen was overwhelmed and extremely expensive for me. GooglePlace - December 2017

Ancient German cuisine, in the best of ways! This place is the oldest restaurant in Berlin, and they know what they're doing. I had the roasted pork knuckle with red cabbage which is prepared almost like a jam. This dish was incredible, and also the puree side. For firsts you should try the chicken liver croquet, which is simply amazing. The duck stock is also quite unique but too salty for my palate. I was rewarded with a free Apple tort for dessert which was nice, and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. GooglePlace - November 2017

Maybe next time just told people the restaurant is fully booked instead of making fun of them. What do u think I want when I walk into a restaurant around dinner time? U Just said Hello and nothing else, but after I found a table to sit, then u told me I can’t eat here. Real funny way to waste my time. GooglePlace - November 2017

Lovely historic pub restaurant serving great beer and good quality traditional German food. It can get busy, so booking in advance is highly recommended. Our waiter was (intentionally) very amusing, adding to the enjoyment of our evening. GooglePlace - November 2017
