Description

When establishing Relæ in 2010, the NOMA descendants Christian F. Puglisi and Kim Rossen, also wanted to cater for the locals with laid-back quality food. The result was Manfreds & Vin, the first natural wine bar in Copenhagen, serving takeaway and soon also in-house. The tatar became an instant classic, making Manfreds (probably) the world’s only veggie-focused restaurant famous for its raw meat. Eventually the ‘& Vin’ was removed (although the wine is as present as ever!), and the restaurant still focuses on rustic-style cooking using modern techniques and highest quality raw materials – served inside, outside, at lunch and dinner, as takeaway or catering. Organic or biodynamic produce are meticulously chosen in collaboration with Relæ. Vegetables from some of the country’s most skilled nerds like Kiselgården and Birkemosegaard – and our own guy Lasse, who makes lots of veggies and herbs at our Farm of Ideas 40 kms from the restaurant; The best quality meat we are able to find from Danish farmers who raise their animals exceptionally, walking those extra miles for the sake of quality of life – and taste.

The food is very good, much of it comes from their own farms so they control the quality. I generally picky about fish and the poached cod was excellent. We also had the danish traditional Xmas pudding which everyone couldn't get enough of. My only issues was sat next to the door and kept getting hit with it when people came in. I really like eating vegetarian, but it requires some above average skills to make the food nice. At Manfred they do lack those skills, if you’re into eating two dishes with kale and one dish made out of onions without any fantasy this is your place (not ours obviously) Service was not friendly and ecological wines simple don’t taste as nice as ordinary wines. We choose this restaurant because of it’s connection with Relea but don’t expect any quality in the range of Michelin stars restaurants at all. GooglePlace - December 2017

So overrated. Wish we had gotten the daily special, which looked good, but we opted for the 7 course tasting dinner, which was a real disappointment. Only one of the seven dishes had meat, and most of them were just heavily sauced vegetables. We've had salads that were better than all 7 courses combined (which is actually what the daily special looked like, for about half the price). Of the five wines we tried throughout the evening all had strong vinegary notes of oxidation characteristic of organic wines that have been open a little too long. Vinegar flavors were also a theme across the seven dishes, which was not exactly the kind of pairing we were hoping for. Overall, the ambiance and staff were both nice, but this place did not live up to the hype or its price point. GooglePlace - July 2017

All in all, this is my favorite "everyday" place in Copenhagen. Always creative and great. Sit next to the kitchen if you have the option. Don't skip dessert, it's amazing; sometimes i go just for that. There are two options for dinner. The chefs choice small course menu is the way to go if you have time, they are really playful and interesting. But it takes a long time. the dish of the day (or "green" dish of the day) is what to go for normally. Less exciting, but robust and filling, and perfectly done. GooglePlace - July 2017

This was my first gastronomic experience in Copenhagen and it was fabulous. We were four people and we all agreed: it was a pleasure. I still remember the steak tartar. The waiters were very nice, helpful and kind. Wine was amazing and it is out of the touristic circuit, so the mood is more local. A little pricey (I live in Berlin and could be even more than London), but highly recommended. GooglePlace - April 2017
