We were so fortunate to find this place (pure luck). I am surprised actually to see such a low rate of this place here on Google. To me it was a gem - the highlight of the entire Copenhagen trip actually. I loved it so much we went there twice, plus visited "The Market" - another restaurant opened by the same owner - by recommendation of our Geist waitress. First time in Geist we took 2 different dishes + 1 desert each, second time - 3 different dishes + 1 desert. So between 2 of us we have tasted 10 different dishes and 4 deserts - all were unbelievable 100% hit! All other restaurants in Copenhagen (albeit all being great too) just fade comparing to Geist. I have traveled to quite a few countries and been to my fair share of restaurants around the world, and for now this is my #1 favorite. In fact, I am afraid, I will not be as impressed by lots of excellent restaurants I will go to from now on, because subconsciously I will compare them to Geist and it is going to be nearly impossible competition. We had high hopes for a really nice meal and had heard great things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was a miss. The dishes are average and greatly over-priced. I was really looking forward to the avocado and caviar dish and it was below average. There were brown spots from the avocado and one of my other dishes was lukewarm. The bread was cold (used to be served warm) and dry. The service was awkward, our wine came after our meal had already come out and we refilled the glasses ourselves. Despite being practically the only table in the restaurant, the service was slow. In the end, the bill was quite big for what we received. We all felt a little cheated and agreed the place is not up to scratch for what they are charging. Don't bother. GooglePlace - December 2016

Cool place, but unfortunate quality problem We enjoyed the drinks and vibe. Better than many high end places in nyc. The recommended 4 tapas each was a bit too much. But the real problem was the dissintary I had all night. I barely slept and it threw off our entire trip. Someone from the health department needs to pay this place a visit. I'm not sure which plate was the issue, but it makes me sick just trying to imagine which one it was now. GooglePlace - December 2016

We made a group booking for 14 people and we were separated in the restaurant onto 2 tables so we couldn't talk to each other, even though the rest of the restaurant was practically empty! The food was good, but portions were insanely small and not filling. Service was not very attentive either. GooglePlace - November 2016

Certainly there are better places to eat in Copenhagen, but the atmosphere at Geist is great. I took my girlfriend here for a Valentines dinner and while the food and value for money was a let down, I enjoyed the aesthetic and being able to sit at the bar by the kitchen and watch the chefs. Perhaps not the most romantic place, but check it out when if you're in the area. GooglePlace - October 2016
