Description

Bar STRAF is the street bar of the homonym design hotel opened in 2004 in the heart of Milan, interior designed by Arch. Vincenzo De Cotiis. The bar echoes the basic materials used inside the hotel, such as concrete walls and floor, but here Vincenzo De Cotiis has created a sort of spatial overwriting by using a hyper-decorative style. Recycled second hand pieces, like the large, apple green Plexiglas chandelier from the 70’s, the stools, and the brown leather patchwork sofa, combine with specially created pieces, like the huge pictures silk-screened on metal and the counter situated directly across the entrance, the only brand new element in the furnishings. The bar seeks to convey a concept that brings us back to essentials and to art, where everyday life blends with the future. Eclecticism characterizes the happy hour, proposing internationally inspired dj sets, live music and special events. There is a constant vibe in the atmosphere of bar STRAF making it pleasant and lively also for a light lunch during the week or a Sunday brunch in the shade of the Duomo cathedral. Always keeping with the objective of stimulating each person and making everyone feel at home and free to express their personality. Open every day from 11am to 1am. Menù "à la carte"and sandwiches available all day. Every day, happy hour from 6:30pm to 9:30 pm. Every Tuesday live music from 7pm, every Thursday live DJ set from 7pm.

Straf Bar – Unexpectedly cool
Straf Bar – Unexpectedly cool Image by Katharina Ziche Straf is somehow a peculiar place. Don’t be deceived by the location, only 40m from the Duomo. It’s one of the coolest spots in town. Its slick design is ... continue Milan Spotted by Locals · Blog

Straf is awesome, rooms are unusual and artsy, there's a Bluetooth speaker TV with premium channels a bar next door and it's right next to duomo. Milan is so hot right. Now but you would not know it the air con is perfect in the room. Would recommend. GooglePlace - August 2017

This is a design hotel, and it shows. Clean lines, modern style. It's very Milano, the design centre of Italy (perhaps the world). I liked the look of the room, but style and function aren't always in sync. I had to climb under a table to find what is I think the only electrical outlet in the room to charge my electronic devices. But they do provide a Bluetooth speaker for guests to use. Some things were counter intuitive, where light switches are, for example. And the lovely rain style showerhead is strategically located so that it's impossible to take a complete shower without wetting your hair. There is a stylish bench and a matching Ottoman, but no chair. The location however is ideal if you want to shop or visit the Duomo. Wi-fi signal is good. Would prefer a connection that requires a password, but that's a quibble. Breakfast is pretty standard, soy milk is on offer for cereal and coffee. Fruit is fresh and good quality. The staff are friendly and helpful. GooglePlace - July 2017

Strategic location. Good room, with good size bathroom. It is not excellent because there is very limited support functions (small gym, no swimming pool, tiny breakfast space). GooglePlace - June 2017

Modern, great location, nice breakfast included in the morning. Rooms were very modern, some with a massage chair. Noise from the street wasn't great but died down after 11. GooglePlace - May 2017

Nice, modern and clean hotel, if you're a tourist the location is perfect right next to the cathedral and close to all the shopping. The breakfast selection is small but actually one of the best I've had so far and I do a lot of traveling in my work. If you like the song Hallelujah - hallelujah, there's a karaoke bar or something nearby so you'll hear it at least 5-6 times a day from your room. For the hint immune, the rooms aren't too well audio isolated so I guess it's my one and only complaint as I stay here for business and enjoy peace and quiet after a long day. That said, I like this hotel and would be happy to return as a tourist. GooglePlace - November 2016
