COMPLETELY DISCRIMINATED by the hosts. Despite being perfectly on time and being the first ones there, we were placed at the worst table by the door with wind blowing into our heads. I complained twice just to be moved to the table stuck by the bathroom. I looked around there were some 4 ppl tables left so I thought they had 4 ppl reservations, just to find out the remaining parties were all 2ppl. I voiced my concern, the host came by and basically told me that my mom and I were just unlucky. It is especially upsetting because I ordered Omakase, which is much more expensive than what others ordered. Very unfortunate, because the WAITRESSES WERE REALLY NICE, BUT THE HOSTS HAVE HORRIBLE ATTITUDE, COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. On the food side, presentation and quality are nice but not outstanding compared to other well known restaurants in the city. Akiko does not offer true omakase, it's just a combination of a la cart items on the menu. I will never go back and will advice anyone I know not to risk getting terrible treatments by the hosts. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Kusakabe, Omakase, Saru, Ijji, Roka Arko, Wako are all much better choices!!! I don't understand how they can get 4/5 rating on yelp. GooglePlace - January 2018

Amazing fish quality. Very refined selection and priced accordingly. Service is very good and place is ideal for chic dinner. GooglePlace - January 2018

One of the best sushi spots in this neighborhood. Small space. Hard to get a table for dinner without a reservation, but worth it if you can get in. A little more expensive than some of the other nearby sushi places, but the selection, preparation, and presentation of the fish is better. GooglePlace - December 2017

Sushi and small plates are both worth ordering! Fresh fish, fair price point (for SF!) and friendly service. Try the hot/cold Omakase and leave it up to the chef! GooglePlace - October 2017
