Tips from the Net @ Bow Hon Restaurant

Fried was good and all beef was so so but what got me to this two stars was the service really rude waitress and it seemed that the cups weren't even fully washed. I still felt reluctant to leave a top so I was going to leave 2 dollars until she came back and demanded two more which was out right rude. Not coming back to this place GooglePlace - July 2017

Food is decent but the staff act suspicious of you. GooglePlace - March 2017

Guys, this is not a place for dim sum, orange chicken, spicy and sour soup. This is a truly Cantonese Chinese restaurant; they are good at home/village food. They don't make dim sum here. The dim sum are brought from next door (surprise to hear it is microwave or frozen; never ever had this issue before). What you should order here are steam live fish, clay pot rice, etc. Go with a Chinese friend. The English level here is low, so miscommunication is bound to happen. My parents only liked eating here and so my family eat here when we go to Chinatown; we have been coming here for over 20 years. Never had an issue but I have witnessed frustrated customers because they did not know what to order and the waitress were awkward. But since I understand how their body language can be misunderstood, so I understand all the negative experience as described here. And they are extremely understaffed. If I were you expecting spring roll and dim sum and in a rush and attentive service, don't come here. If you are not judgmental about eating fish with a head on and don't mind the floor is sticky, and water may spilled out by accident, the food is great, if you know what to order. $60 for 3 people is not expensive in SF. They only accept cash. I give a 3 star for lack of polish in service. The food deserves a 4. GooglePlace - September 2016

We ordered dim sum...it was a mistake. Most likely frozen and reheated. The onion pancakes were deep fried? and greasy. Service was slow. Nothing to recommend. Best avoided GooglePlace - July 2016

We had won ton soup, eggplant, and fried rice, and none of them had enough salt or flavor. It was the blandest meal I have ever had. It wasn't bad. It just had no flavor at all. GooglePlace - July 2016
