Fringale pioneered the South of Market culinary renaissance as one of the first true French bistros in San Francisco. Featuring French/ Basque cuisine, specialties include spicy Monterey calamari with jalapenos & chorizo, foie gras terrine with nectarine compote, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, and braised savoy cabbage with caramelized onion sauce. Also popular is traditional duck confit served with lentils "Du Puy" in red wine sauce. The restaurant's sponged eggshell colored walls, blonde wooden chairs, sand and earth toned banquettes and verdigris bartop create a dining environment that is sophisticated, intimate and inviting. Fringale is a place where guests can drop in for a glass of wine and snack at the bar or enjoy a tantalizing meal prepared by one of the finest French kitchens in San Francisco. In addition to a full bar, Fringale's wine list offers a fine selection of California wines along with wine selections from smaller French producers.

This place is really hard to get into for some reason. We had a booking on a weekday, and had to wait about 15 minutes before being seated. Once we were seated the service was quite fst. I had a chicken dish, and had asked the waiter if it was good or he had another recommendation. He said if that's what you want, order it. Not very helpful. needless to say my dish was quite boring and bland. The restaurant was also 85 degrees which was not enjoyable, it was nice and cool outside. Not sure. Will not be back. I had dinner here on a Saturday night, I have to say that I loved it. The food was fresh and good, the service was excellent. Very nice experience overall, I think the prices are good for what you have in your plate! GooglePlace - October 2017

It's not often that I leave five stars, but when I do, it has to be as balanced as nice Saint Emilion Bordeaux! Which is exactly what this restaurant has. My goodness, everything from the modest, yet powerful wine list, to the off the charts Lamb Chops. Fringale Restaurant has something for everyone at a discount compared to restaurants in the area. The wait staff and support staff were attentive and friendly, and the food arrived on time with each course exceeding expectations. The intimate, and warm environment set the vibe for one of the best dining experiences my family has had in The City for quite some time. Cheers! GooglePlace - August 2017
