Service is impeccable. We got our oysters before our drinks and weren’t even mad about it (because we were there for the oysters mainly), but before we knew it our server had sent out a “gift” from the kitchen to make up for it. The flavors were great. Coincidentally our least favorite oysters were the Hog Island namesake. But our favorites were the ones recommended by our server, so I would definitely trust a recommendation here! Also our “gift” was grilled oysters and we never try any cooked oyster - I am so happy he sent these out since I never would have known how delicious. Do yourself a favor and try the garlic and the chipotle grilled oysters. GooglePlace - February 2018

Hog Island has been my bay area home for oysters and fresh seafood for a decade. Having eaten oysters all over the world, I believe the Hog Island oysters are of the absolute highest quality and have the fingerprint of being locally farmed and sourced. One friend remarked that they just taste better because they’ve not been jostled to the same extent as oysters that have been flown, which makes more sense with live animals like fresh oysters. The clam chowder is my favorite because of its brothy consistency. With a cold local IPA, this is one of my favorite meals. GooglePlace - December 2017

The clam chowder here is so good! It's not like your traditional chowder in that it isn't the creamy thick but rather its more like a liquid soup. The chowder has fresh clams in their shells and bacon which makes it more fragrant and flavorful with each bite. All the ingredients are fresh and the chowder is worth the higher price. The oyster stew is also worth trying. It's so delicious as the oysters and chipotle butter make the stew so tasty. And of course you should try the oysters on the half shell. I ordered oysters, clam chowder, the stew and ginger beer. What a delicious meal! The chowder had a thinner more watery consistency than what I am used to and it was tasty. It came with a ton of clams! The stew is highly recommended. A ton of fresh seafood in it and everything was fresh. The view was awesome as well. There was a harvest moon to our right (on top of the bridge) and to our left were fireworks going off. Great night. It is a bit of a wait though and no reservations so be prepared to wait!
