House of Nanking is a staple Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. Our recipes transpire from traditional recipes that have been updated based on our own experiences. We like to recreate standard dishes and give it a twist. At House of Nanking, one of the popular things to order is in fact not to order yourself! We are fantastic at putting together a dish for you based on what you like. Our menu is constantly changing and dishes are rotated around. Some of our dishes, however, are favorites and have been around for quite some time. These special dishes include: Nanking sesame chicken, fried potstickers with peanut sauce, shrimp packets with peanut sauce, house noodles and fried calamari.

Food was ok. Not as satisfying as I thought given they have been customised to local flavours. Had the chow mien. Portions were huge for it. The famous Nanking sesame chicken was tad too sweet for my taste. My friend had the cold noodle and it was disappointing. Lightly Sesame flavoured noodle only and some scraps of cabbage and almost no meat. The dumpling soups were pretty good with basil flavoured soup. Dumplings were plump, however the 'spicy' soup had no heat in it at all. Service was mediocre. GooglePlace - September 2017

The food was fantastic. All three people in my party raved about their dishes. The service however is terrible. Rude and inattentive. It took three requests and 15 minutes to get A GLASS OF WATER. Frankly, even for amazing food, I don't think I'll go back to stand in line, be packed into a table like sardines along with strangers and treated like an annoyance by the waiter. Food was excellent. Very busy place and tightly packed seating. Don't be surprised if you are seated with other guests at the same table. Pork egg roll was amazing as was the sesame chicken. Be sure to order rice if you want it with your meal as it is not included. GooglePlace - August 2017

this place was FABULOUS! the food was amazing. i highly recommend getting the sesame chicken and the onion cake. the portion sizes are huge, so you can share and taste test if you have a large party. you may have to wait a few minutes outside bc there is limited seating, but it's worth the wait. our waitress was very happy and friendly. definitely recommend! If you are unsure where to eat in Chinatown, eat here!! We took a large party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us. They didn't even have to provide us a menu. They recommended we eat family style and asked us what type of food we were interested in. They also took an inventory of any food allergies and cook special meals for our vegetarian member. Their food was the best Chinese food that I have had in the US. Their service was spot on. I will definitely eat there again! GooglePlace - June 2017
