House of Nanking is a staple Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. Our recipes transpire from traditional recipes that have been updated based on our own experiences. We like to recreate standard dishes and give it a twist. At House of Nanking, one of the popular things to order is in fact not to order yourself! We are fantastic at putting together a dish for you based on what you like. Our menu is constantly changing and dishes are rotated around. Some of our dishes, however, are favorites and have been around for quite some time. These special dishes include: Nanking sesame chicken, fried potstickers with peanut sauce, shrimp packets with peanut sauce, house noodles and fried calamari.

Went here with my wife for our anniversary dinner. Ordered the sesame chicken and vegetable fried rice. Plus: the food is good. They know how to cook the items on the menu perfectly. Relatively healthy ingredients. Minus: waiters don't seem to care, we we're served water in cheap plastic cups when the rest of the restaurant was served in glass cups. GooglePlace - December 2017

Wonderful spot! Always has been! Let them serve you, they know what they are doing. Simply tell them your likes and dislikes and they will gladly accommodate you with a fine dish to suit you! GooglePlace - November 2017

Discovered this restaurant by "nose". Was riding bus to North Beach when I smelt the most amazing smell I ever smelled. Maybe I was really hungry. I saw a line in front of the place and I figured that was it. Talked to the proprietor and he wedged me into a wonderful window seat, and I asked him to serve me whatever he wanted. He served me an amazing soup and crispy chicken that was absolutely sumptuous. Made two dinners there, and found it to be a socially eclectic place where you can eat right next to someone and have wonderful conversation. A favorite stop in the City by the Bay. Wow, that's the best sesame chicken I've eaten. The sauce was flavorful without being sweet, and the sweet potatoes were an amazing addition to the dish. It was busy but they seated us immediately and service was fast. I'm definitely going back. GooglePlace - November 2017

Quite possibly the best Chinese restaurant in the country. Delicious food with great options. My only recommendation is to let the wait staff pick for you based on what you like. The unlisted menu is unreal and astoundingly good. GooglePlace - October 2017
