Great experience but I am not into fancy Japanese food so it was too much for me. The food is amazing the amaebi and uni , grilled scallops, zosui, miyagi oyster, and the desserts set at the end

Amazing presentation. Loved the salmon roe and the salmon dish, Alaskan uni, and the rice bowl. Mushroom soup was a little oily

I tend to be adventurous with what I eat, to the point of forgetting to make reservations which is what happened at Kappou Gomi. But the gods were taking care of me this night.
Kappou impressed me because of the large menu sans the maki or nigiri rolls. I discovered that there are many seafood types to choose from (e.g. sake, hamachi, unagi and more) and they each come in a variety of styles (e.g. tenpura, sashimi, grilled and others).
I ordered the hamachi sashimi which was exquisite and very tasty. Next was the unagi grilled in miso sauce, which was right on the dot with only a spare amount of saltiness. It also included small balls of sweet red bean paste, which was like an early dessert. The pork clay pot came after, and while not such a bold choice, it kept in line with the subtle flavors of Kappou.
I was really pleased by the flavors of each dish and the attentiveness of the servers. Since the dishes are on the small side and the offerings are specific and hard to find, might not be a place for those new to Japanese. But if you are bold enough to enter prepare to be intrigued. This place is a gem.
