Description

Peña Pachamama, still open after 18 years as a magical, musical world music restaurant in the heart of San Francisco’s tourist-happy North Beach neighborhood used to be San Francisco’s most historic speakeasy, and then a beloved Italian eatery called Amelio’s. Clark Gable fell in love here with Carole Lombard, some while before Joe DiMaggio enjoyed his wedding dinner with Marilyn Monroe. "One of those magical places, a little island of the future where those who enter her doors are forever transformed by the spirit of the music and dance that takes them in. You’ll find it on a little side street in San Francisco’s old Latin Quarter somewhere between Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf and endless Italian late night cafes."

This place had strong reviews and I was eager to try them out, but it ended up being a disappointment. The service was a bit slow. I found the food a bit bland. And for whatever reason, on a Friday at 7 PM, the place was exceedingly dead. GooglePlace - December 2017

Vegetarian/vegan restaurant. The food is good, but was under seasoned. Rating as 5 stars because of the live entertainment was so good. GooglePlace - December 2017

The food was extremely fresh and it’s organic. I was surprisingly pleased at its deliciousness too. It’s great that their entire kitchen is gluten free so this place is extremely celiac friendly. The portions are small but I think they’re more in line with regular food standard rather than gorge yourself American standards. I liked it. The Shaw was excellent also but if you have small kids I would recommend getting a seat that’s right around the stage. I had to have my 7 year old on my lap so she could see and it wasn’t comfortable. GooglePlace - November 2017

Very nice atmosphere! Food was tasty, but portions were too small especially considering the price. I left the restaurant hungry after finishing a (delicious) main course and three slices of a (tasty) pizza. And dessert. Bigger portions would make this an excellent place! GooglePlace - November 2017
