This restaurant is great. Ambiance is simple but the food is fabulous. The chicken teriyaki is excellent. Sushi is too. Well prepared. The sushi chef Mitchell is personable, knowledgeable and fun. I highly recommend this restaurant for either sushi or cooked food. GooglePlace - November 2017

Very disappointed upon my last visit. I've been before and the flavors, quality, and service were great so I went back and brought a friend. It was later in the day but still 3 hours before closing. They were out of many things but did not make us aware before serving us. They were out of their regular noodles and served us thick noodles which wasn't an issue until we realized that other things were lacking quality or just missing entirely. There was only half an egg when there should've been 2 halves. I had ordered extra pork belly with my ramen and as I started eating, I realized there was hardly any meat in my bowl. The meat that was present consisted entirely of fat. I mentioned it to the waiter and he was aware of the condition of the meat because he said that all that is left is meat like that so he can't replace it or it will just be the same thing. They were even prepared to charge me for extra pork fat until I said that I wouldn't pay the extra charge. Even the appetizer was in sad shape. The calamari was burnt but left out to get cold. We were never even asked our drink orders. Also, the entire dinner, we were not asked if everything was okay, nor was our water refilled. We kept having to flag down a waiter. I paid a whopping $45 for 2 bowls of fat soup, a plate of burnt, cold octopus, and 2 glasses of ice water. GooglePlace - November 2017

I would like to start off by saying I've always considered Ramen Yamadaya five stars for their delicious, blow mind ramen. It is a real destination unto itself and something my girlfriend and I have always looked forward to. However the last three times we have been there the menu design and description of the items were changed. This is a minor annoyance as it makes a simple order more difficult when, even after some discussion with the waiter, we are still not sure we're getting what we want and have enjoyed in the past. There is more though to bring this rating down to a 2.5 star review. The last time we were there, there was another menu design and description of the items change (this was the third, ugh). And even though it was Sunday at 12, prime time with folks waiting down the stairs to get in, there was one guy in the kitchen preparing the orders. We waited nearly 30 minutes after ordering to get our order of a bowl of ramen. This is an open kitchen, he was clearly in no hurry and was taking pictures "with his phone" of several of the dishes he prepared before sending them out! He was not washing his hands after doing so! Most people know this is not a sanitary practice when handling food and "all chefs" should know this!!! That was our last time and we decided to look for another place. Yet I also thought it worthwhile to let the owner/management know about our experience so they could improve it for others and also so they would know why we weren't planning to return. The Kakuni Kotteri is tasty – the pork belly in particular is buttery smooth – but the broth is also incredibly rich Foursquare - September 2017
