Tips from the Net @ Yan's Kitchen

One of the worst orange chicken meals that I have ever had. Chicken was questionable at best and the outer breading was quite tough. My girlfriend loves the sweet and sour pork and I was very excited to try this place. All i got was a burnt meal. Even my girlfriend was disappointed. I will try it again just because my girlfriend is nagging me about my review. GooglePlace - January 2018

Cash only. Well worth it. One of the best Chinese cuisines in the USA. Known for General Tso, though I enjoy the Kung Pao dishes myself. Please note, this is freshly made food, so if you are used to the prepackaged, premade Chinese food from other restaurants, you're in for a treat. GooglePlace - December 2017

The orange beef and twice fried pork were both great! Also, this is a cash only place. Foursquare - December 2017

I'm not sure what to make of Yan's kitchen. It comes so highly recommended and yet the food is kind of middling as American Chinese food goes. I've come back a few times thinking that I'll try something else and get something amazing but each time it seems like it's Chinese food prepared for American palates, which just isn't what I've come to really like in Chinese food. There's a bias towards fried food in sauces and heavy, sweet food. They have a lunch menu that is inexpensive and get serve quickly which is welcome, and combinations that provide a fair amount of food meaning you get a lot for your money. I'd rather eat bok choi than rice, though, and it feels like you get a huge plate of rice and not a lot of your entrée, which is a bit of a bummer. GooglePlace - December 2017

Great little mom and pop shop. I only eat Chinese food here when I'm in San Francisco. I dream about the orange chicken, it has a thin crisp layer on the outside and we'll cooked and tender on the inside. You should also try the won ton soup, and let mama' serve you the first bowl. Makes you feel right at home. GooglePlace - November 2017
