Description

LUNA SENTADA ...MARINER IN PIE 2011... Seguitemi... ****** Anno Domini 1295 Messer Marco Polo is aboard the galley that will finally take him back to his beloved Venice... It is a beautiful summer night, a gentle breeze of the warm Scirocco wind blows the boat to destination...Marco's thoughts go out to his friends and relatives... little news does he have of them... so much time had passed... Will I find my dear old aunty...the one who cooked such delicious meals for me?...Marco thought about all the mouthwatering dishes ..."bigoli in salsa", "guazzetto di pesce" much time had passed since his last real meal...on the boat the lived on dried meat and biscuits... Well did he remember that amazing last meal in Trebisonda and its fusion of asian and arabian flavours, the strong scent of the spices, curry, cinnamon, galanga mingled with the fragrance of mediterranean wines would he ever taste these flavours again? He glances at the horizon searching the sky for the dawn, the sea is quiet and the ship slowly rolling a sailor in front of him points to the moon...a moon that seems to be seated between the sky and the sea...between the infinite and the absolute.. LUNA SENTADA ...MARINER IN PIE 2011... Now back in Venice like Marco I felt all these sensations during my travels discovering new flavours and tastes that conquer the palate and the imagination... at the same time one cannot forget our own culinary traditions.. LUNA SENTADA is a culinary voyage that takes you from Venezia to many different gastronomic worlds, on his trip, on my trip.. be my guest and travel with me...

We had two servers, one was very nice, the other was a more typical venetian (not rude, but not overly nice). Service was good despite a mix up with the appetizer which was quickly fixed. The setting is gorgeous and there is little tourist traffic. We sat right on the canal and watched the gondolas go by as we ate by candlelight. Appetizer was beef carpaccio, the best I've had. For the mains we had the rabbit tagliatelle and tortellini with red wine reduction. Mains were very good. The bottle of wine we ordered (only available by the bottle) was excellent. Desert we split a tiramisu, which was very good with coconut. GooglePlace - June 2017
