We are staying in Milan and travelled through to Venice for the day by train. In search of the perfect pasta...we found it here. Just off the side of the Grand Canale...the prices are half of what they were advertising at the restaurants literally 20 second walk from the Grand Canale. We arrived just as they were opening for dinner. After a semi-awkward exchange (which is pretty typical for us as we learn to navigate the unfamiliar social mores in a new country), we were seated and dinner began. Our hosts were eminently gracious, and they treated us with such kindness. I had a gnocchi dish with pork that actually brought me to tears. The chocolate mousse was perfect. My wife and I have been traveling around for the past week since we are here, eating somewhere new every evening, and our meal at Ristorante Al Paradiso remains a special experience in our memories. Staff was a little tight lipped at first, but we did swing by just before closing. Party of 5. They opened up. The interior was pristine. Try anything on the menu, the chef is very talented. Turned me on to sea bass carpaccio. And the bartender, with the slight tremble? Poor fella there, but his martini was majestic. A grand experience.
