Almost a hole in the wall, this charming eating room servers fantastic food. The wait staff was charming and efficient. I had the Hungarian goulash soup and the Transylvanian meat plate. This was the only meal in Vienna that I could not finish, and I desperately wanted to manage it. Their goulash soup is excellent, but is overshadowed by the astounding bean soup they serve. It has sour cream in it, so I tasted a bit of my dining companion's bowl - it was sublime! The Transylvanian meat plate had a rasher of bacon, I think it was roasted instead of fried. Several pounded flat cutlets, chicken and pork, if I remember correctly. And the potatoes were either a marvel of roasting or boiled then lightly fried - either way, I want to figure out how to make them at home. The salads on the plate were tasty and we were too full to try the desserts.
I would recommend this as a wonderful place to eat, without reservation. Please visit them if you can, you will not be sorry. (Prices seemed in line with the other restaurants I visited in the city center, except for the same price there was more food and several drinks.)
